FAQS

Question:-

Are your coins true coins ?

Answer:-

Every coin used at ApsoWest is a genuine coin of the realm.

Question:-

Is using coins in jewellery legal or against the law

Answer:-

It is illegal to deface a coin by altering the date or sum, because of its monetary value, making the coin fraudulent. Once the coin is used in our jewellery it can no longer be used as legal tender as our process adds a domed clear finish also we do not alter the date or sum of the coins used. Essentially, the key word is 'fraudulent'. You can legally drill through a coin, paint it, melt it, or bend it - but the moment you try and use that coin as currency, you are breaking the law. When sold by us the coin is within a piece of jewellery and not currency.

Question:-

What is plating

Answer:-

Plating is a method of depositing a thin layer of gold or silver onto the surface of another metal, most often copper or silver. To fuse the precious metal layer the process uses  electronics and is called electroplating.

Question:-

Is it proper gold and silver

Answer:-

The plating process uses precious metals, the gold metal I use is rated at 24ct.

Question:-

Why use plating, why not solid gold

Answer:-

The benefit of gold plating for jewellery is that it gives the look of gold or silver, but does not have the cost of using a solid precious metal. Plus there is the law which makes it illegal to copy a coin of the realm.

What are the dates of coins ?

Answer:-
